Michelle Obama talks about breastfeeding Sasha, interviewing at U of Chicago – Lynn Sweet.
First Lady Michelle Obama, speaking Wednesday at a White House conference on workplace flexibility, recalled the day she interviewed for a job as an executive at the University of Chicago Medical Center–and how she breastfeed her daughter.
The mother of a newborn, Sasha, now eight years old, Mrs Obama could not find a babysitter so she took her baby along to the meeting.
I love the Michelle Obama story. I am not surprised at her tenacity! I have a lactation practice and in my work that I do in the community I have encountered African American women that don’t know about many of the benefits of breastfeeding. The education piece is missing! given half of a chance, I make sure that I deliver that education. I am going to share Michelle Obama’s experience.
My colleague and I established a lactation private room at work! All we had to do was ask!
